Additionally, if you run programs without admimistrator rights, some settings get redirected to even further due to UAC registry and file system virtualization. Check this registry key also: Code:.
Some notes for reinstall: Run all setup programs without compatibilty settings activated. Use installers provided with programs, do not just copy files and registry settings around.
You need to have BF2 patched to 1. Install PunkBuster as a system service. Setup file can be found at Evenbalance web page. Update PunkBuster. Again, updater can be found at another Evenbalance web page. If these requirements are met, then you can play PR without using administrator rights every time, even with UAC on and set to it's highest level.
And last, but definitely not least: you have bit operating system - give it more RAM! Thorow in everything your motherboard can possibly handle and it will only make things smoother. Ability to address more than 4 gigabytes of RAM was the very motivation for creating bit processors and operating systems. Nope, still no-go.
I just reinstalled the PunkBuster service manually as you said. I also checked those VirtualStore things, but there's no VirtualStore in my registry, and the VirtualStore in my profile is empty. It's still not working at all; I just get a black screen for a second, then it quits. Oh well, I guess I'm going back to XP for now. Falcon 4. Works fine without problem on mine. Windows 10 Home.
Must be problem on your end. Maybe you just need to wait, Battlefield 2 is quite old. Cloud View Profile View Posts. Originally posted by AWFordJr :. Originally posted by Stahlhelmine :. Should i just uninstall the game to save space, or is there a way to get it to work right? For a while, I couldn't get BF2 to start on Windows 7 bit like a lot of people, and none of the solutions were working.
So I found another solution. Make sure that in ALL of your video. In those files, it says setResolution, just make sure they're the same. And as usual, make sure the Steam Overlay is off. I'm not sure how many of you have the same problem, but that was MY stupid mistake. I have a windows vista bit and it does the same thing, does this help for me to or not?
I don't know, I guess you can try it. There are a LOT of problems running this game on modern computers, so if this doesn't work, Google's your friend. Huge thanks for posting this it worked perfectly. Did you run as admin or try compatibility mode for XP?
